Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay is Hiring a Dining Services - IL - Banquet Coordinator Near Sarasota, FL

The purpose of this position to manage and successfully execute all catered events within the facility. This may include resident events and business functions. This position also serves as back-up to front of the house dining managers and assistant dining managers, as needed.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Catering
1. Meet with residents, resident family members, or staff to coordinate special dining events.
2. Ensure the preparation, processing and maintenance of records, reports, pricing, billing and paperwork.
3. Execute and assign catering responsibilities in collaboration with the Director and Sous Chef.
4. In conjunction with the Director and Operations Manager, assist in creating the annual Special Events Calendar.
Dining Room Management
1. Assist with greeting and seating of residents during meal service as needed.
2. Ensure that residents are served the proper menu items for their assigned diet orders.
3. Meet with residents throughout meal service to ensure satisfaction.
4. Coordinate service in all dining areas during meals and assist food servers as necessary to ensure the highest level of service is being provided.
5. Conduct pre-service “line up” with service staff, as requested.
6. Ensure effective communications between the front and back of the house.
7. Ensure that dining room staff complete all required opening and closing side work responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibility; however, this position maintains supervisory authority over staff during catered events and when serving as backup to managers and assistant managers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Formal culinary educational training at a recognized school or university preferred.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of two years’ successful catering/banquet experience in a Life Plan Community, restaurant, or private catering company.
General:
  • Must be creative, with the ability to inspire others when planning the culinary and decorative aspects of a special event.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy daily.
  • Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
  • Must have good communication skills; speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word, with the ability to learn and use proprietary software as required.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be ServSafe and TIPP certified or be able to obtain these certifications.
