Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay is Hiring a Construction - Design Coordinator Near Sarasota, FL

The Construction Design Coordinator is responsible to provide support to the Vice President of Facilities for the successful completion of remodel projects of both apartments and public areas. Works closely with Marketing, Maintenance, architects, contractors, and other entities necessary to accomplish successful completion of remodel projects.
SCHEDULE
The usual work hours for this job position are weekdays, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but will, on occasion, include some evening and weekend hours, working more than eight hours in a day and working at a time not previously scheduled.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with selecting common area furniture, finishes, flooring, wallcovering and accessories.
2. Work with internal construction team and sub-contractors as needed to communicate and coordinate remodeling projects campus wide.
3. Ensure a seamless transition from the marketing and contract signing phase to the residential transition phase of residency on assigned apartment remodel projects.
4. Work directly with new and existing residents in the design and renovation phase of their Plymouth Harbor apartment.
5. Perform assigned clerical duties.
6. Coordinate work orders with contractors for residents and schedule work.
7. Participate in assessing renovation needs of closed apartments.
8. Obtain and review trade contractor quotes for assigned projects.
9. Schedule trade contractors to complete work on assigned projects.
10. Participate in coordination of apartments renovations (in-house & contractor) including walk-throughs, punch lists, following SCOPE and architect plans, and observing for adherence to safety practices & cleanliness of work areas.
11. Participate in creating oral and written communications to residents regarding Remodeling, Maintenance and Capital Projects.
12. Work as liaison between Construction, Maintenance, and Safety Services for resident projects and issues.
13. Assist with developing & maintaining an electronic resource library.
14. Make efficient use of Plymouth Harbor’s resources and supplies.
15. Make independent decisions that are in the best interest of Plymouth Harbor.
16. Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures of Plymouth Harbor.
17. Effectively communicate, in writing and verbally, in a manner that supports completion of renovation goals.
18. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis while working with all current residents, potential residents, family members, vendors, contractors, staff members and others.
19. Work as liaison between Construction, Maintenance, and Safety Services for resident projects and issues.
20. Make independent decisions or recommendations that are in the best interest of Plymouth Harbor.
21. Make efficient use of Plymouth Harbor’s resources and supplies.
22. Attend and participate in appropriate meetings and in-service training programs.
23. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and mandatory in-services as approved or required.
24. Be familiar with the Fire Evacuation Plan and Emergency Management Plan.
25. Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a clean, sanitary and organized manner. Ensure that work areas are neat and confidential materials are properly stored before leaving area on breaks, end of workday, etc.
26. Discharge properly such other responsibilities and duties as requested by the Vice President of Facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • The Construction Project Assistant has no supervisory responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, construction or a related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum three years’ experience in the design profession, residential remodeling, or related field.
  • Experience in residential construction and remodeling projects, or similar, preferred.
General:
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy on a daily basis.
  • Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
