Plumas District Hospital is Hiring an Outpatient Specialist Near Quincy, CA

Nature and Scope

The Outpatient Specialist coordinates the Rural Health Clinic and Indian Valley Medical Clinic patient visit summaries, and prints orders for any ancillary tests ordered during the visit. Registers patients for same day ancillary tests and initiates the authorization and scheduling process as needed. Provide patients with prep instructions for any tests and discharge instructions at time of check-out. Verify demographic and insurance information for the electronic medical records and billing purposes. Creates patient estimates as appropriate, verifying eligibility and coverage. 

Location

We are located 1065 Bucks Lake Rd Quincy, CA 95971 and 176 Hot Springs Rd, Greenville, CA 95947. You will be traveling between both offices.

Compensation

Compensation Philosophy: We have 6 pay increments on our clinical pay scales to compensate staff for 6 years of relevant experience. 

Compensation Range: $18.00 - $21.84 / hour

Job Status / Shift Information

Part-time and weekdays. Monday, Wedesday, and Friday: Indian Valley Medical Clinic in Greenville, CA. Tuesday and Thursday: Rural Health Clinics in Quincy, CA

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Two years experience in a health care environment preferred.

Experience

At least 1-3 years of customer service preferred. At least, 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Experience with database software applications desired. On the job training available.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Data entry and the ability to type a minimum of 25 words per minute Microsoft Excel/Word and good mathematical, reading and writing skills required. Superb customer service, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.Efficient time management skills and ability to multi-task. Strong understanding and comfort level with computer systems. 

Must meet physical requirements as stated on job description addendum

Responsibilities

  • Promptly fields and/or directs incoming calls, responds to patient and/or staff inquiries, and initiates patient triage, when necessary.
  • Completely and accurately documents all patient interactions (phone calls, etc) in the patient’s electronic medical record, including caller’s name, patient’s name if different from caller, call back phone number and a brief message explaining the reason for the call.
  • Ensures all registration and admission forms are ready for patients to complete upon arrival for service.
  • Practices proficient customer-service skills by greeting and treating all patients and staff with respect and discretion.
  • Gathers and verifies all appropriate, confidential health and financial information from patients while using various computer software tools, to assure payment for all authorized services.
