The primary role of the Developmental Specialist position is to serve as a therapeutic–educational liaison supporting a neurodivergent child in the private, mainstream educational setting.
Primary Responsibilities
· Provide 1:1 support to a child in a school setting using a neurodiversity-affirming lens.
· Collaborate with school team, as well as clinical team and family, and take lead on developing individual support plans (ISPs) as needed (may include verbal and/or written communication.)
· Implement accommodations and modifications during classes and activities throughout the school day to ensure academic and social success.
· Support social interactions with peers during play-based opportunities.
· Participation in weekly reflective supervision with supervisor.
· Orientation and ongoing training on the DIR/Floortime and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health practices.
Additional opportunities
· One-on-one developmental therapy, in home- or school-based environments, utilizing DIR/Floortime and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health practices.
This may include collaboration with additional team members through team meetings, and verbal and written communication.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. Child development, Neurodiversity, DIR/Floortime, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, or Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
