Description

Summary

The Director of People & Culture provides positive leadership to champion the culture and engage a high-quality workforce to meet the needs of the business and ensure the organization is a highly preferred employer. The position is responsible for overseeing company-wide HR practices that can be leveraged across our locations and support the business through standardized processes and HR best practices. Oversight includes employee communications and internal branding/sentiment, DEI, CSR, and learning and development to promote PlayCore’s mission and values-based culture. The position plays a critical role in supporting the business strategy, developing our HR strategy, implementing standardized, scalable, and site-specific talent initiatives across PlayCore, and ensuring a collaborative, continuous quality improvement mindset for supporting the needs of our business that is growing organically and through acquisition.

Qualifications


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Promotes culture and engagement by overseeing corporate employee communications for internal branding and positioning, consistency and relevance with messaging, and to ensure communications are reaching all levels of the company (including intranet, email, text system, town halls, newsletters, mission in motion campaigns, HRIS, policy and procedure manuals, etc.).
  2. Leads PlayCore Gives, the corporate social responsibility strategy (including Charities of Choice, Company-wide Days of Caring, etc.), and supports the implementation of site-specific community involvement and philanthropy initiatives that align to our purpose driven approach.
  3. Leads PlayCore Thrives, the corporate wellness initiativeaimed at improving the health and well-being of employees.
  4. Leads PlayCore Learns, the corporate learning and development strategy to ensure a comprehensive approach to training and documentation, including compliance, leadership development, skills growth, etc. Drives the strategy, implementation, and evaluation processes to ensure the greatest impact.
  5. Supports succession planning by implementing high potential programs that nurture and develop future leaders across the organization.
  6. Oversees the performance management standards and processes and develops performance improvement planning and manager coaching resources that can be leveraged at the local level.
  7. Provides training and coaching to HR professionals and managers on a variety of topics and serves as a collaborative change agent to champion our culture and standardized processes.
  8. Oversees onboarding and orientation processes for effective design and implementation to promote standardization and also fit the needs at each location and to create the best possible initial start for all new hires in the organization.
  9. Strategically develops the road map and implements practical tools to foster, develop and move forward the DEI initiatives of PlayCore.
  10. Oversees innovative corporate engagement strategies for company-wide consistency with best practices that positively impact retention, while also supporting tailored site-specific initiatives that meet the needs at the local level.
  11. Develops and implements comprehensive employee listening strategy and standardized tools (surveys, stay interviews, exit interviews, etc.) to gauge employee engagement and recommends actions to address improvement opportunities.
  12. Oversees internship programs to provide a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of study while nurturing a talent pipeline.
  13. Supports acquisition integrations.
  14. Oversees translation services across our locations and diverse workforce.
  15. Collaborates with other departments (i.e. operations team for safety programs) for program relevance, development and adoption.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s or 4-year degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience in both manufacturing and corporate environments, and strong employee communication experience.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP/CP preferred
  • Experience managing a team

Travel

  • 20% - Travel to facilities, community partners, and to maintain education and skill development.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in HRIS, Compensation Software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
