Platte County Sheriff Office is Hiring a Deputy Sheriff Near Columbus, NE

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, Nebraska, is currently accepting applications to establish a register for the position of Deputy Sheriff.

  • All Applicants must be twenty-one 21 years of age prior to completion of the Nebraska Law Enforcement training program.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or possess a certificate that certifies an educational development of at least a high school graduation level (GED).
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a T.A.B.E. test.
  • Must be of good character, so as to be free of any convictions of any crime punishable by imprisonment in a state or federal penitentiary for a term of one (1) year or more, or any misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude, or from which a pardon has not been received.
  • Must be able to pass the physical agility test as established by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
  • Must meet any and all other requirements as specified by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
  • Must meet requirements as established by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission Rules.

Platte County offers full time benefits, to include competitive wages, uniform allowance, retirement, medical insurance (percentage paid for by county), vacation, paid holiday leave, sick leave, comp time, and a take home patrol unit. Pay is based on a step plan, currently starting at $25.07

You will receive detailed information for the hiring process upon our receiving your completed application.

The written exam will take place on Wednesday, June 5th at 08:00am. Interviews with the Platte County Merit Commission will take place following the written examination. Specific interview times will be provided upon completion of the written exam.
