Job Summary: Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the OR and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.
Job Summary: Provides functional direction to members of the perioperative team to achieve optimal patient outcomes while optimizing available resources including surgical case management and perioperative patient care coordination.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
2. Operationally and fiscally manages the perioperative services department during tour of duty.
3. Acts as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using current literature and guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
4. Assists perioperative personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and performance improvement activities.
5. Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
6. Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the surgical department.
7. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
8. Uses effective conflict resolution techniques.
9. Collects and analyzes data that applies to perioperative services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders.
10. Participates in interviews for perioperative personnel selection.
11. Assists in evaluating perioperative personnel performance.
12. Serves as a role model of professional behavior.
13. Verifies that the appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
14. Provides guidance, support, and constructive feedback to surgical team.
15. Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
16. Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information
Education/Licensure/Certification — Mandatory:
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing
· Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
· Current registered nurse licensure in state of employment
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Required:
· Two to three years varied surgical services experience
· Basic computer skills (eg, Microsoft® Word)
Preferred:
· Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification
· Advanced computer skills (eg, Microsoft® PowerPoint, Excel)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
· Physically demanding, high-stress environment
· Occasional exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
· Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
· Manual and finger dexterity
· Hand and eye coordination
· Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time
· Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
· Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
· Frequently sitting at desk working on computer
· Working irregular hours including call hours
