Overview
The Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing processes. This role involves optimizing production procedures, enhancing quality, reducing costs, eliminating waste and maintaining safety standards. The Process Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.   • Tracking of process and equipment downtime, downtime data includes, duration, reason/cause, machine alarm code, product produced when downtime occurred, process area, shift or crew, operator comments, waste collected or generated as a result of downtime, safety concerns etc.
  • Implement visual displays/dashboards of production data and process/team performance.
  • Guide and assist maintenance team in developing preventative maintenance schedules as well as the implementation of a maintenance management system.
  • Guide and assist the production and warehouse team to develop and implement standard operating procedures in cooperation with the EHS team to include job hazard analysis and personal protective equipment/safety measures required.
  • Provide operator decision support through the development of troubleshooting guides or decision trees to use in the event of process downtime.
  • Develop operators and production team to find root causes for process issues and downtime, this includes implementation of process dashboards, trends, 5 why and fishbone analysis to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Identify improvement projects and utilize DMAIC process or other Lean tools to realize continuous improvement.
  • Document implemented process improvements and benefits achieved from the improvements.
  • Participate in capital project identification, motivation, implementation and completion review.
  • Analyses and recommendations to improve the work environment.
  • Complete process time studies.
  • Make staffing recommendations.
  • Perform statistical analysis of processes (SPC), including process capability analysis, and control chart implementation and monitoring.
  • Implement real time yields and control charts.

Education, Licensing and Certifications
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering
Project Management qualification (PMP)
Lean/ Six Sigma, Green Belt certification
Knowledge of OHSA regulations, OHSA 30 hour
Experience
Preferred
2 years of recent demonstrated manufacturing environment experience in a process improvement capacity.
Experience in a batch process plant (construction materials/engineered mortars/food)
2 Recent process engineering work responsibility,
2 years Demonstrated Plant Improvement project management experience, processes and or new equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage plant level project assignments successfully.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office, with high proficiency in Excel.
  • Preferred proficiency with SQL and other system/ database applications.
  • Preferred proficiency with AutoCAD, Minitab or other SPC analytical tools.
  • High level PC proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
