Job Description
JOB TITLE DESCRIPTION:
  1. The Maintenance Technician A will provide technical expertise to the organization within the role by ensuring injection molding machines and associated equipment are operating at a specified speed, accuracy, and repeatability. This role will be responsible for operating diagnostic and calibration equipment, and training other Maintenance Technicians when necessary. Candidates for this position must possess mechanical aptitude and must be a strong team-player.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  1. This position Directly reports to: Maintenance Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

The responsibilities and authorities for this position include, but are certainly not limited to:

  1. Examining and repairing malfunctioning machines.
    1. Performing advanced pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical circuit work.
    2. Performing advanced work on automated valves, shaft alignment, balancing, vibration, and linear drives.
    3. Developing a complete understanding of material feed systems
      1. Troubleshooting material feed systems, if needed.
      2. Operating and maintaining a calibration program for molding machines and peripheral equipment. This calibration program identifies types of machine/equipment, operating parameters, frequency of calibration, calibration methods and equipment and summary of machine/equipment performance improvements.
      3. Applying diagnostic knowledge/skills for troubleshooting molding machines and peripheral equipment. Troubleshooting may involve the mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical/electronic, controls and computer hardware/software components of the machine/equipment.
      4. Re-assembling and dismantling machines/equipment to improve or correct their operation.
      5. Replacing, adjusting and cleaning components.
      6. Checking machine/equipment operation.
      7. Directing team efforts on process improvements and problem solving to improve production monitoring, calibration, machine analyzing and process benchmarking systems, as requested.
      8. Conducting training on machine diagnostics, component calibration, Mattec and general molding machine operation, as requested.
      9. Documenting all activities, especially machine calibration programs, procedures, and instructions, in compliance with ISO/QS requirements.
        1. Applying company guiding principles while carrying out job duties.
          1. Other duties as may be assigned.

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

4.1 The Maintenance Technician A is responsible for complying with the Company Health & Safety Program including Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards and Company Health & Safety policies. The employee must have a safety mindset when performing the role.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the following minimum education qualifications:

  1. Two-years of technical school is required. The candidate must be able to apply principles acquired through the study of shop math, shop practices, and mechanical drawing.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum of 48 months experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably in injection molding or related industry.

MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have a basic understanding of diagnostic and calibration equipment.
  2. Must be able to operate Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  3. Must be able to understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.

7.2 Must possess mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must have an extensive degree of mental and visual attention.
  2. Able to provide direction to others on specific projects, as requested.
  3. Good communication skills exemplified by interacting with others in different job classifications.
  4. Personal tools are provided by the employee.
  5. Must be a strong team-player.
  6. Must be able to prioritize tasks and successfully multi-task.
  7. Must be able to manage and balance multiple projects.
  8. Must have a desire to work in a hands-on and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  9. Able to lift 50 pounds.
