Plasan North America is Hiring a Team Lead - CWI Near Walker, MI

This position will lead the welding department and provide effective training to ensure production and quality standards are met.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks)

  • Responsible for safety of team members in their work area; expected to enforce company policies
  • Report and document safety related incidents immediately
  • Practice 5S methods, keeping work areas clean and orderly
  • Expected to contribute to department attainment by welding 60% of working hours
  • Maintain and communicate shift report and KPIs daily
  • Ensure all TSS and serial log tracking is properly logged, legible, and turned in daily for welding Responsible to train, mentor, assist welding team members on best practices utilized to maintain productivity goals
  • Ensure all parts produced meet quality standards and specific welding code expectations based on customer requirement
  • Responsible for quality of product produced in their work area, including responsibility for visual inspections on weldments using applicable acceptance criteria, welding code or customer specifications to include pre-weld, interim and post weld inspections
  • Collaborate with engineering in documenting processes and identifying process improvement activities
  • Understands Lean/Kaizen process and makes suggestions on potential improvement areas
  • Responsible for PTO approval, annual review input and oracle transactions
  • Accurately prepare logs, reports and related paperwork as required
  • Ability to perceive problems as they develop and communicate such to management
  • Assign individuals to specific job tasks; ensure tasks are assigned based on the individual capabilities
  • Demonstrate job duties to team members and observe team performance
  • Coach, document and assess specific training needs for team members to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Motivate team members to perform to the best of their ability
  • Communicate company policies and rules to team members
  • Address performance and policy violations via the corrective disciplinary measures policy
  • Assure team members have the supplies and tools necessary to complete tasks
  • Alert maintenance of equipment failures or needs
  • All other duties as assigned

SKILL SET (Preferred Skills)

  • 2 years supervision or team lead experience preferred
  • CWI or ability to obtain CWI within 6 months of employment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • First Article Inspection understanding (why, what, how)
  • Understanding of standard times and how it affects KPIs and internal customers
  • Comprehension of SOPs/Quality Standards
  • Experience with payroll and attendance policies
  • Required to have attained or be working strongly toward achievement of all Welder Level III requirements including:
    • 3 years’ experience using GMAW, GTAW process welding 46100 (HH) materials in 2G and 3G positions
    • AWS D1.1 certification
    • Familiar with Fanuc robots, ANSI Z49
    • Able to tack weld carbon steel, HH and UHH materials
    • Able to weld 46100 (HH) materials per WPS without supervision
    • Able to weld non-ballistic carbon steel parts
    • Able to apply advanced skills to the position/specialization
    • Fluent blueprint reading, ability to create fixtures
Monday through Thursday 3pm - 1am
Overtime as needed
