SALARY RANGE: $54,560 - $73,205

Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).

Belle Chasse High School is looking for a secondary special education inclusion teacher.

Inclusion teachers must accommodate special education students as indicated on their Individualized education plans (IEPs). Inclusion students in the general education classroom will have a regular education teacher as well as inclusion teacher. Both teachers are required to work together to meet the needs of the inclusion students. The inclusion teacher and regular education teacher should frequently discuss and assess the progress of the inclusion students. Inclusion teachers are responsible for writing annual IEPs and for initiated re-evaluations as mandated by state regulations. Inclusion teachers may also conduct alternate assessments of those students who are not able to participate in the customary curriculum tests administered annually.

Qualifications:

1) Minimum of Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university

2) Valid LA teaching certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsements

3) A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn

4) Excellent attendance record

5) Excellent oral and written communication skills

6) Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Best Instructional Practices

7) Positive interpersonal skills

8) Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performances and/or residency

• This individual will exhibit skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
