Plaquemines Parish School Board is Hiring a Behavior Interventionist Near Belle Chasse, LA

SALARY RANGE: $63,562 - $85,284
Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee's supplement is the employee's salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferred Master's degree in psychology, school counseling, social work, or educational leadership
  • Preferred state credential(s) or licensure include any of the following: Specialist in School Psychology (SSP), Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA), State Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (SCABA), Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Registered Social Worker (RSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and/or Certified School Counselor (CSC)
  • Preferred three (3) years successful school-level experience
  • Strong understanding of behavioral theories and intervention strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and/or behavior management strategies
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging behaviors
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations related to behavior intervention and support (e.g., IDEA, Section 504).
  • Moderate to advanced experience in data analysis and visualization
  • Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
JOB GOAL:
  1. To help ensure the implementation of the Plaquemines Parish Multi-Tiered System of Supports for behavior at the school and district level
  2. To train and support teachers, school leaders, paraprofessionals, and other staff in the Plaquemines Parish Multi-Tiered System of Supports for behavior
  3. To promote positive behavior and support the social and emotional well-being of students within the school district
  4. To work closely with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to assess behavioral concerns, develop intervention strategies
  5. To work alongside the district's Hearing Officer to create a supportive environment conducive to learning and the safe, orderly operations of the school
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Behavior Intervention
    1. Establish routine training and professional development for behavior interventions at all levels
    2. Monitor, and support the implementation of the Plaquemines Parish Multi-Tiered System of Supports for behavior at the school and district level
    3. Model behavioral strategies in classrooms and support implementation by teachers and staff
    4. Coordinate the universal screening for behavior districtwide
    5. Coordinate assessments of students' behavioral challenges, including observing classroom behavior, collecting data, and consulting with teachers and parents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the student's needs
    6. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior interventions through data collection and progress monitoring at the individual, school, and district levels
    7. Coordinate and monitor the development individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to the specific needs of the student, in collaboration with teachers, administrators, and parents
    8. Support the implementation of behavior interventions outlined in the BIPs, providing direct support and guidance to school-based teams
    9. Utilize evidence-based practices and behavioral techniques to promote positive behavior and social-emotional growth
  2. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
    1. Establish positive relationships with parents and guardians, providing them with support, resources, and guidance to reinforce behavioral strategies at home
    2. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure consistency in implementing behavior interventions across different environments within the school
    3. Provide ongoing consultation and support to teachers regarding behavior management strategies and classroom accommodations
    4. Collaborate with Pupil Appraisal and Special Education staff to ensure services are provided with fidelity
    5. Collaborate with community agencies and resources to access additional support services for students as needed
  3. Crisis Intervention
    1. Respond to behavioral crises and emergencies as they arise
    2. Utilize, train, and support de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff
    3. Serve on the district emergency response team
    4. Contribute to the district's Emergency Preparedness Plan
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) months (202 days) per year according to the Pupil Appraisal pay scale. Salary and work year to be established by the board.
