Planted Solar is Hiring an Assembly Technician (Contract) Near Oakland, CA

We are looking for world-class talent to tackle challenging projects that will help power the planet with 100% clean energy.

First, the good news: Humans have installed a little over 1 TW of cumulative solar capacity over the last 20 years - solar is now the cheapest source of energy generation around the globe.

Now, the challenge: Humans have to build 1 TW of solar capacity every year for the next 30 years. Planted is creating new technology to overhaul how we design, develop, and build solar power resources to make this happen.

And, we need help. We're expanding our team of curious, collaborative, and hands-on engineers and operators. Come own large parts of product, company, or business development and help make our big plans a reality!

About The Role

As Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for bringing our machines to life. You will be expected to have a range of hands on skills. Anything from crimping wiring harnesses to assembling hydraulic fittings to assembling large equipment will be in your purview. You will be working in a high-ownership, high-trust environment: We will trust you to figure out the best way to get it done, and you will own the results. Expected pay range from $25-$30/hr and the target experience is 2-3 years. This is an onsite 6-month contract role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be onsite 5 days a week, with some travel required
  • Maintain and Assemble Machine Equipment
  • Wiring and Wire Harness Fabrication
  • Testing and Field Support
  • Receive and inventory incoming packages, notifying engineers when parts come in.
  • Track repair tickets in Jira or similar software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years experience
  • Able to read engineering drawings to assemble mechanical components
  • Able to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical problems
  • Able to write brief reports
  • Good communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Heavy construction or machine equipment experience
  • Welding ability
  • Experience working at heavy equipment rental or similar companies.
