Position Overview:

Planstin is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations and assist the Finance Department at Planstin Administration. This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and effective internal controls. They will actively contribute to the strategic direction and planning of the finance department and work collaboratively to establish, manage, and enhance processes and procedures that impact the team's overall efficiency. This position is based in Planstin Administration's Office in St. George, Utah and will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP). Present financial reports to management and stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage the company's budgeting process, working closely with other departments to establish financial goals. Provide financial forecasts and variance analysis.

Internal Controls:

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the reliability of financial information. Monitor and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.

Audit Management:

  • Coordinate and manage external audits, working with auditors to provide necessary documentation and address audit findings. Internal audits may also be part of the responsibilities.

Cash Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, including monitoring bank balances, optimizing liquidity, and managing investments.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead the finance and accounting team, providing guidance and support. Ensure the team's adherence to deadlines and high-quality work.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.

Risk Management:

  • Assess and manage financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate potential threats to the company's financial stability.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, sales, and human resources, to provide financial insights and support overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA designation preferred, but not required
  • Must have 10 years of hands-on accounting, finance and audit internal controls
  • Demonstrated experience including closing the books, financial statement preparation, budgeting and analysis
  • Experience in expanding, fast growing organizations
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred, Net Suite a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Not-for-profit accounting experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities to meet deadlines on schedule
  • Full cycle accounting, completing month-end close
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to present financials to organization leadership, boards and executives
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
