Plansee Group is Hiring a Cost Estimator - Precision Machined Parts Near Franklin, MA

The Cost Estimator is responsible for the technical review of inquiries. Provides technical guidance for the shop floor and ensure that all tools such as CNC programs, fixtures, are available.

COST ESTIMATOR - PRECISION MACHINED PARTS
IN FRANKLIN, MASSACHUSETTS USA
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create costs (material master, bill of material and router)
  • Communicate the need of CNC/CMM Programs as needed for new products or process improvements.
  • Support the shop floor (supervisor/group leader/operator) with fixturing design and special tools required to manufacture a product.
  • Review and analyze costs (planned verses actual) and make necessary adjustments after job orders are completed.
  • Work on process improvements and cost reduction on existing products.
  • Ensure ISO compliance for all processes related to manufacture a product.
  • Confer with suppliers, tool manufacturers, subcontractor, etc. to gather necessary data required for estimates.
  • Interface with shop floor, sales and customer to determine product specifications and maximize reliability and acceptance.
  • Follow the manufacturing process of new products to ensure they are on schedule and delivery dates are met.
  • Implement revision changes of a product and ensure that all necessary documentation
  • and tools such as fixtures, CNC-Programs, drawings, etc. are updated.
  • Support production management in new investment projects.
  • Update and maintain SAP document management system when required.
  • Perform incremental tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of High School diploma required. A two-year degree or certification in machine technology preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in estimating functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work with ASME and ISO drafting standards; familiarity with GD&T.
  • Strong background in machining (milling, turning, drilling); experience working with high performance materials (molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten) desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SAP module PP and MM preferred; other software experience is essential.
  • Basic understanding of MRP functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong communication, organization and technical writing skills.
