Job Description – Buyer
A manufacturing company in Plano, TX is seeking a Buyer, this position is entry level and training will be provided however some purchasing/vendor management experience is strongly preferred. Job Duties:
- Negotiate sourcing opportunities to provide cost savings to the company as well as providing a quality product to the customer.
- Follow through with reviewing, secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices
- Executing orders with manufacturers, vendors, supplier and brokers as per competences and supervisors discretion.
- Provide suggestions to their supervisor for new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
- Work with sales team to report status of quotes and orders.
- Update sales and supervisor when orders may be delayed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay rate:
Depending on experience this will be discuss with the Hiring Director
Type of position:
Temp to Hire - long term position with opportunity to be hired on permanently
Working hours: 7:30am-5:00pm
Company benefits:
During the temporary portion you will not be eligible for PTI holiday and PTO pay. You will also not be eligible for benefits including, health, dental, vision and 401k matching till after 90 days once hired on as a permanent employee
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Excel, Microsoft Word, Basic computer knowledge
- General purchasing and negotiation skills
- 2-5 years’ experience in procurement preferred
- Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
- The ability to work calmly under pressure
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Good business writing skills
- Attention to detail
