SALARY: $63,000-$70,000/Year

POSITION SUMMARY

The Philanthropy Officer II is a passionate advocate for sexual and reproductive health care and rights who is deeply motivated to help donors reach their philanthropic goals while advancing the mission and vision of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLRSWMO).

The Philanthropy Officer II is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive Annual Fund program including direct mail and in person/virtual solicitations, cultivation, and stewardship strategies. This person in this position will have the opportunity to work with incredibly passionate donors as they build upon one of Planned Parenthood’s top Mid-Level Giving programs in the country. This position will play a critical role in identifying, qualifying, soliciting and stewarding new donors across Missouri and the Metro East to expand the base of support for patients seeking expert, compassionate reproductive health care. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives equally when working with individual donors as well as writing direct mail stewardship and appeals. 

PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED

●Maintain and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 Mid-Level individual donors (giving $1,000 - $4,999 annually), including conducting regular in person/virtual meetings and other communications.

●Work closely with the Director of Development on all aspects of the Annual Fund, and Direct Response giving (e.g. Give STL Day), including design, content, timeline, and segments.

●Develop an annual stewardship strategy, that aligns with the Development calendar of activities and resources, and/or developing new stewardship tools and tactics.

●Manage relationships with external vendors and internal departments to meet annual giving deadlines and goals

●Build and maintain positive relationships with individual donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders

●Work collaboratively with the Director of Development to establish revenue goals for the fiscal year and monitor monthly results compared to goals

●Write/update acknowledgment and thank you letters, pledge reminder copy, and other development communications; Work closely across the Development team to develop and manage consistent messaging to donors and prospects that aligns with solicitation and donor-specific stewardship communications.

●As part of the individual giving team, work effectively with the Chief Development Officer, Director of Major Gifts, and Director of Development to build the major and mid-level giving pipelines by identifying new donors and building strategies for engaging and encouraging donors to give at higher levels.

●Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

●Speak with donors by telephone when they call with questions or concerns and handle in a professional and courteous manner.

●Collaborate with colleagues in the Development Department and other PPSLRSWMO departments in the identification and implementation of donor centric programs, actions, and activities.

●Will take guidance from Director of Major Gifts for strategic counsel and support

●General support of the activities of the Development Department.

● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

REQUIREMENTS

● Commitment to building and fostering an anti-racist environment in the fields of philanthropy and health care

● Minimum of 5 years of work experience; nonprofit development experience is preferred

● Minimum of 3 years of annual fund fundraising experience

● Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

● Demonstrated ability as an excellent project manager for a multi-faceted project or campaign

● Candidates must have reliable transportation for travel within Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri territory.

● Periodic travel is required to events, meetings, and out of town conferences
