Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a full-time (37.5 Hours) Pharmacy Technician out of our Akron Health Center. This candidate is passionate about serving marginalized and medically underserved populations. This opportunity is foundational to the launch of the broader strategy to improve health equity through comprehensive primary care to our communities.

SUMMARY

A pharmacy technician works closely with the Director of Pharmacy Services and other pharmacy staff. This person locates, dispenses, packs, and labels prescribed medication for patient and client that is reviewed for accuracy by the pharmacist before dispensing to patient/client. They will support the work of the pharmacy by helping with administrative tasks as well as working with the pharmacy’s walk-in clients.

To be successful in this role, they must be a licensed Pharmacy Technician as defined by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. They must be customer-focused and remain up to date with the latest advances in pharmaceutical science.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician as set forth by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy
  • Prior relevant experience as a pharmacy technician, preferred
  • Experience with an online prescription system is preferred
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Outstanding organizational skill
  • Reliable with a keen eye for detail

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Receiving prescriptions and checking their validity
  • Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
  • Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, they will prepare new prescriptions and refill requests for patients
  • Dispense medication to patients per the prescription and/or providers’ orders
  • Tracking inventor
  • Repackage bulk medications
  • Filling automated dispensing machines
  • Prepare compounded medications using sterile and non-sterile processes
  • Pack and label prescribed medication
