Job Title - Club Manager In-Training

Hiring for club managers in-training in the Grand Rapids area (Alpine Ave., Plainfield Ave., Lake Michigan Dr., and Byron Center).

Job Summary

JP Management Services, LLC is a multi-location Planet Fitness franchisee with nine locations in west Michigan. The Club Manager will become part of one of the fastest growing fitness chains and also a rapidly growing West Michigan Franchise group. They will lead a team that is responsible for club operations and to ensure employee and member satisfaction along with desired financial results. This position is a salaried, exempt position that reports to the Regional Manager. The position requires most of the work to be performed in person at the assigned location.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties

• Recruit, hire, train and develop a high performing staff.
• Provide excellent customer service and create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests.
• Schedule staff and ensure all shifts are covered.
• Manage key administrative processes including payroll, deposits and close downs, inventory, issues, marketing, Human Resources and metrics/reporting
• Resolve employee and member issues.
• Manage employee disciplinary/termination activities.
• Ensure a clean and safe facility including equipment, locker rooms and interior as well as exterior of the facility.
• Uphold Brand Standards, including brand excellence execution (360 cleaning and customer service audits), 30 day app adoption, 30 day secondary billing, and excelling in meeting and exceeding company metric standards.
• Protects member confidentiality according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and related state and federal laws.
• Perform basic maintenance of club equipment, which includes but is not limited to: replacing overhead light and tanning bulbs, signage, ceiling tiles, upholstery, batteries, dispensers; troubleshooting TVs/cable/internet; lubricating exercise equipment; completing simple vacuum repairs; may require the use of a ladder.

Essential Physical Functions

• Must be able to regularly lift or move at least 25 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both in writing and orally.
• Continual standing, moving, and walking for several consecutive hours during shift, which comprises 80% of daily duties. Remain stationary for approximately 20% of daily duties.
• Available to be on-call for emergencies which may occur at assigned club.
• Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
• Able to commute in all weather conditions.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma/GED equivalent required. College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must be 18 year of age or older.
• Current CPR Certification required; paid for by employer.
• Successful completion of Planet Fitness University (PFU) Learning Pathway or equivalent training.
• Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
• Experience working as an Assistant Manager or fitness trainer at a Planet Fitness , at least six months experience preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, including, but not limited to, Data Trak and Google Workplace applications such as Google Office and email.
• Solid supervisory, diplomacy and listening skills
• Hard working, enthusiastic and energetic!
• Strong problem resolution skills.
• Minimum one to three years of experience in leading and/ or managing a team, preferably in the fitness industry. Leadership/Management experience
• Passion for fitness and motivating employees, while creating a culture in line with JP Management's core values.

Salary and Benefits

• Competitive salary club manager between $40,200 - $55,200 (based on experience and qualifications) plus bonus; manager-in-training $17 per hour without bonus.
