In-House Mortgage BankerQualities of a successful candidate include:
  • Must have detailed knowledge of real estate lending, banking rules and regulations and bank products offered.
  • Professional appearance and behavior are a must.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills a must.
  • Must have knowledge of credit analysis, credit policy/procedures, real estate (business/personal) lending, problem loan administration, and financial budgeting and planning.
  • Computer knowledge and the ability to operate in and quickly learn various software programs is a must. Specifically emphasis placed on Microsoft Office products, primarily Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, writing skills, and typing ability required (preferably able to type 60 WPM).
  • Must have demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work under stress and pressure.
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be available and willing to travel to offsite locations when the employer deems it necessary to meet business needs.
  • This person must be able to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers and deal with colleagues effectively and professionally.
  • Attention to detail while composing, typing and proofing loan documents, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines is required.
  • This person is required to represent and promote a positive image of the Bank in the community through involvement and or participation in the community, civic, and charitable organizations and agencies.
Responsibilities of this position include (but not limited to):
  • Develops and implements mortgage lending objectives, policies, and practices, primarily through the origination and servicing of mortgage loan products held on the Bank’s balance sheet, while consistently analyzing the loan portfolio and developing trends.
  • Reviews approved loans and delinquency reports to ensure the mortgage loan is being serviced efficiently and that policies and practices are being followed. Ensures the proper mix of loan types to maximize yield, maintain quality control, and minimize losses.
  • Ensures proper inspection of properties under construction and evaluates progress as needed.
  • Composes and proofreads sensitive emails, loan documents, and narrative summaries.
  • Reviews and underwrites own files, analyzing income (tax returns and paystubs), writing summaries, and presenting diligence package and recommendation to management and/or loan committees.
  • Cross-sells checking accounts, opening deposit accounts for new customers and strengthening existing customer deposit relationships.
  • Works directly with secondary market lenders to service their customer’s needs.
  • Develops liaison with real estate agents, mortgage brokers, builders, etc. to solicit new business or better service existing businesses. Maintains contact with other lending institutions to remain informed of trends in the field.
  • Keeps informed of short and long term regional and national market conditions, lending trends, tax implications, and other factors influencing profitable performance.
