Paraprofessionals assigned to Specialized programs are eligible to be awarded multiple additional stipends each semester (must work minimum of 70 days per semester)

Full Time: 7 hours per day, 9 months

Job Summary: Special Education Paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of our students as directed by Special Education Teachers. The Special Education Paraprofessional is responsible for providing services and supports to the instructional program with specific responsibility for:
Assisting the Teacher in a variety of instructional tasks within a self contained setting and a general educational setting.
Providing support to students with disabilities within the classroom and around the educational building.
Assisting students with communication, scheduling, problem solving and modifications of curriculum;
May work with students who require toileting assistance.
Adapting classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives
Implementing behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
Description:
Ability to work as a team member.
Assists and monitors students across school settings (lunch, recess, specials, restroom, etc).
Work with special needs students.
Ability to monitor student behavior.
Monitor and support transportation needs.
Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
Open to feedback and learning behavior techniques
Strong communication skills
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the educational environment.
Ability to work with a wide range of staff and students in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
One of the following State of Illinois Licenses registered in Will County: Paraprofessional (ELS(PARA)), Substitute (SUB), or Professional Educator License (PEL)
College transcripts with 60 credit hours or have passed the WorkKeys Assessment
