SALARY: $21.83 - $26.61 (Range 22)

Work Year: 9.5 months per year, 5 days per week, 30 hrs. per week (Benefit Eligible)

SHIFT HOURS: Monday to Friday, Flexible Shift Hours Between 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

DEFINITION:

Provides behavior support services to students to eliminate or replace disruptive, harmful, or negative behaviors with positive actions. The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will work closely with the school, and other support systems to assist with monitoring, and implementing the positive behavior modification/intervention plans developed by members of designated school site team. Receives direction and support from a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives immediate supervision from higher level supervisory staff.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE POSITION:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Follows documented behavior plans and protocols.
2. Provides student support in reaching goals.
3. Documents student progress formally and informally.
4. Contributes to the development of materials for documenting student progress.
5. Adapts or modifies instructional materials as determined by student needs and abilities.
6. Schedules activities, prepares charts, records, graphs and other displays of student performance data.
7. Participates in various meetings.
8. Performs a variety of classroom related work such as sorting, filing, and record keeping, establishing and maintaining files, recording attendance, completing forms.

9. Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Ability:

1. Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and phonetics.
2. Knowledge of effective record keeping practices and procedures.
3. Ability to deal effectively with attitudes and behaviors of students.
4. Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and written forms.
5. Ability to efficiently use and manage time.
6. Ability to maintain student performance records.
7. Ability to manage behavior and treatment programs.
8. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
9. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
10. Ability to make independent decisions to respond to student requests and needs and to select appropriate techniques to be used with students.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Experience: Experience working with children in a classroom setting.
  • Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

CERTIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete the following:

1) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to include completion of 40-hour course of RBT training as required for certification.

2) Complete 48 semester units of college course work, or AA degree or higher, or passage of Instructional Aide Testing (ESSA) required.

If selected, a TB Test & Fingerprint Clearance will be required. Instructional Aide Test and Fingerprinting will occur at the PYLUSD District Offices (Human Resources Department) located at: 1301 E. Orangethorpe Avenue, Placentia, CA 92870.
