About the role

PKL Services Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable administrative professional to support a military squadron in a Travel Clerk 2 role to provide administrative services in support of the Commander, Naval Air Forces (CNAF) at VFA-106, NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach VA.

Daily duties include:

  • Plans itineraries and schedules travel accommodations for military and civilian personnel with dependents according to travel orders using knowledge of routes, types of carriers, and travel regulations.
  • Verifies travel orders to ensure costs, availability, and convenience of different types of carriers. In addition, verifies the selection is the most advantageous route and carrier.
  • Notifies personnel of travel dates, baggage limits, medical and visa requirements, and determines that all clearances have been obtained prior to travel.
  • Assists personnel in completing travel forms and other business transactions pertaining to travel.
  • When scheduling travel accommodations, it will usually involve the use of two or more modes of transportation.
  • Will experience frequently recurrent travel for military and civilian personnel.
  • Select and apply appropriate travel guides, methods, techniques, and work sequences to effectively accomplish the work, within the required guidelines.
  • Must review his or her work to ensure compliance within regulatory guidelines and program policies.

About you
We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Three (3) years’ experience is preferred in a supervisory or managerial position in a U.S. Navy activity as a uniformed service member, civil servant or contractor employee performing routine Administrative, Personnel Administrative Support Services, or Travel Administrative Support Services duties.

And it would be a plus if you have:

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following systems/processes/functions is desired:
    • Command Pay/Personnel Support System (PASS).
    • Command PASS Coordinator (CPC).
    • Navy Standard Integrated Personnel System (NSIPS),
    • Transaction Online Processing (TOPS),
    • Master Military Pay Account (MMPA),
    • Electronic Service Records (ESR)

Required Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • This position is subject to a government security investigation.
  • Requires access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII), unclassified sensitive information, unclassified Department of Defense Information Technology (DoD IT) systems, and the host installation or squadron spaces.
  • Must be able to receive a Government Common Access Card (CAC), access Government systems, and requirements of Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 1000.13 and SECNAVMAN 5510.30 (series) and SECNAVINST 5211.5 (series) prior to performing administrative services outlined in the PWS.
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a SECRET or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.

Position and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day.
  • Evening or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Hours are subjected to change based on the needs of the squadron.
  • Occasional telework may also be required upon request of the customer or PKL.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key).
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
