Job Overview

The purpose of this position is to participate in offering to our guests an outstanding dining experience. As a cook, part of your job is to do the daily prep, to prepare, cook and season food for our guests - according to our lists, rules and procedures. You will work with other kitchen staff to follow recipes, use ovens and other industrial cooking apparatus, measure and weigh ingredients, monitor (food for freshness) and safety - maintain a clean kitchen and store ingredients properly.

General Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing duties, including: storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist. Set up, stock, and maintain work areas. Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use. Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures (including restroom, server area, parking lot etc.)
  • Help the server at closing if necessary with sweeping, mopping and/or other cleaning tasks
  • Ensure optimal level of sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas at all times
  • Monitor and maintain a clean working area and clean cooking surfaces to make pizzas, salads, pasta and all other food products we serve
  • Manage all food orders from the servers; administer all verbal instructions and perform all cooking as per restaurant policies
  • Handling the food properly, following the law and the internal policies of the restaurant
  • Doing the daily prep, preparing the dough and the dressings by precisely following recipe
  • Pre-cooking items such as pasta, cooling and storing them properly, preparing them for later use
  • Knowing all the ingredients and products the restaurant offers: What they are, how to prepare them, how to cook them
  • Preparing all the food item by following the restaurant policies and recipes precisely
  • Washing, cutting and preparing foods designated for cooking
  • Monitoring and ensuring exact measurement of all ingredients for all food items
  • Report accidents and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed.
  • Assisting with special events as needed
  • Working with other colleagues and be a team player
  • Analyzing all customer order and strategize priorities and the flow of preparing the food item with the other cooks, to ensure that the food come out fast and at the same time
  • Cleaning, stocking and restocking workstations and display cases
  • Following all rules, policies and procedures precisely
  • Accomplishing the shift lists and any other job duties as requested by Supervisors, Shift Leads and/or Manager
  • Train new employees, at the request of management
  • Participating in all meetings scheduled by the manager
  • Greeting customers when they enter the restaurant and when they leave
  • Cleaning all food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils
  • Cooking the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously
  • Protecting the establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Staying updated with rules, policies and procedures by using our internal channel of communication
  • Washing and sanitizing the dishes, silverware, trays, glassware, etc.
  • Doing the inventory when needed
  • Taking orders to server at windows
  • Taking order to the table if the server asks for help due to the high number of clients
  • Restocking wood for our wood-fired oven
  • Chopping wood if necessary
  • Schedule activities and equipment use with managers, using information about daily menus to help coordinate cooking times
  • Helping servers when they need help bussing a table and taking water to the guests due to the high number of clients in the restaurant
  • Ordering, signing for and stocking the supplies according to the restaurant policies and lists
  • Picking up orders from local suppliers
  • Holding the other employees accountable for any breaking of the rules and procedures & to let the management team know if the problem persists
  • Reporting to the manager any problem that appears in the kitchen, on the floor or any other part of the restaurant
  • Participating in keeping a friendly and fun working environment;
  • Treating the other colleagues, suppliers and guest with respect
  • This position responds to the “Shift Lead” and “The Manager”

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in commercial kitchen is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Quick thinking.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Availability to work in the week-ends, holidays and overtime
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day
  • Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English
  • Ability to lift heavy trays filled with glassware/food
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment: dough machine, slicer, mixer, dishwasher, blender etc.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required
  • Able to follow all the rules and procedures established by the management team
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Chefs work with knives and slicers and must have excellent technique when cutting and preparing food
  • Time Management Skills
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Pre-employment drug screening required
