Pivot Solutions is Hiring a Lower school teacher Near Hoboken, NJ

We are seeking an early childhood Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year for Hoboken and Newport campuses. This is a 10-month, full-time assignment starting in August 2024 and ending June 2025.

Contract duration is from August 16, 2024 through August 15, 2025. Standard work hours, benefits, and paid time off as per the Faculty / Staff Handbook.

The Candidate

You have knowledge and experience with literacy education and learning support for early elementary ages. You can identify and implement appropriate strategies to meet the particular learning needs of individual students.

You have experience with and knowledge of reading and writing curriculum development and you have strong classroom management and pedagogy skills.

You are comfortable administering reading and phonics assessments, interpreting results, and designing individualized reading lessons and goals.

You are experienced and confident as a coach to elementary years teachers in reading and writing instruction, evaluation, and support.

You have a willingness to grow professionally through ongoing professional development courses. You are a detailed-oriented team player with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

You are a professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and is a self-starter. You work collaboratively in a small community and can instill confidence in the program with parents.

You are creative and flexible with organizational and broad-based student management skills in a variety of groupings from 1 : 1 to small group or whole section.

Your strong verbal and written communication skills support your development of interpersonal relationships with students, faculty and families.

You are culturally competent with effective organizational and classroom management skills.

Primary Responsibilities

Teach Spanish language and associated cultures to designated grade levels (PreK through 2nd grade)

Understand and implement teaching and learning practices based on visual aids, inquiry, exploratory approaches conversational opportunities and storytelling / creative expression

Write progress reports twice annually and attend teacher / parent / guardian conferences as needed

Integrate technology (Mac-based, Google Suite and use of Smart Panels and Chromebooks)

Cultivate and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom culture that values various perspectives

Continue to develop and modify curriculum and look for opportunities to integrate curriculum with other disciplines

Implement a range of assessment practices including projects and conversational exercises

Develop students’ cultural competencies and help them find connections to the world

Communicate with colleagues and families around student issues and needs

Interact effectively and sensitively with a diverse population of students, faculty and parent / caregiver body

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s preferred

Fluent speaker of Spanish

3-5 years of relevant classroom experience with similar age-group

Passion for teaching young children.

Demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness and be motivated to grow and to collaborate with others

Interact effectively and sensitively with a diverse population of students, faculty and parent body.

Position Requirements

Arrival by 8 : 15am

Attend a selection of weekly faculty meetings, Back to School Night, and formal Parent-Teacher Conferences (in fall and spring)

Attend start of year and closing faculty meetings

Attend grade-related field trips (including overnight trips if applicable) and certain evening events
