Reports To: Clerk of the Circuit Court
Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Deputy Clerk provides a wide and complex variety of administrative support functions and public relations services in support of the Clerk’s office. Detail oriented with the ability to provide assistance and demonstrate courteous, and professional interaction with public, elected, and appointed officials, and County employees.

Core Competencies:
Education and Experience: Specific knowledge in vocational, administrative, or technical field obtained with a two-year Associate’s Degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, business or technical school. Minimum four (4) years of experience as an administrative assistant. An Associate’s Degree with courses in business fields may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
Required Knowledge and Skill:
Certifications and licenses: Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements: This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
