Description: The Pittsfield School district is seeking candidates for the position of reading specialist to serve grades 6-8. Pittsfield is a small school with 120 middle school students in rural New Hampshire near Concord.

• Creating lesson plans to improve literacy
• Instructing individual students or small groups of students
• Coaching students on techniques and skills to improve literacy
• Designing intervention plans for students who could benefit from more literacy support
• Collaborating with teachers or other specialists to determine how to best help students
• Leading professional development workshops about literacy
• Meeting with parents or guardians to discuss their child's progress
• Improving students' skills to help them pass state tests
• Advising on curriculum development to ensure new curriculum supports good literacy habits

Duties: This person would be responsible for teaching reading to our 6-8 grade level students. A passionate teacher, who believes that all children can succeed through effective instruction is highly desirable.

Qualifications: Candidates must be a Licensed NH Teacher, preferred reading and writing teacher certification. Knowledge of Science of Reading. Evaluating students who may struggle with reading or writing
