The PPS Summer Arts Camp Teachers will collaboratively develop and implement plans for six days of learning arts in a cross-curricular setting for rising 4th - 9th grade students. Plans will include opportunities for young people to create, connect, respond and present work in instrumental and choral music, visual arts, creative writing, dance and theater.
Teachers will prepare for young people to invite families to a celebration of learning the final day of camp on June 25th.
Dates of Commitment: June 17, 18, 20, 21, 24 and 25.

Salary
Current PPS Teachers:

$23.32/hour for 41 hours (6 hours of collaborative planning before camp, 35 hours of teaching and supervising)

Any other candidate

$23.32/hour for 35 hours
Qualifications
Candidates must be enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. In addition, we are seeking candidates with:
- Experience teaching visual arts, music, theater, dance and/or creative writing.

- Experience and familiarity with the academic, socio-emotional, and cultural needs of urban students and have demonstrated success in working with these students and their parents

- Experience and familiarity with the National Core Arts Standards preferred
- Operates with a high level of personal responsibility and optimism

- Value, demonstrate, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion

Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities of a 2024 Summer Arts Camp Teacher include but are not limited to:

1. Collaboratively plan cross-curricular learning for young people attending camp.

2. Assist in securing and organizing all necessary equipment and materials for camp (i.e. music, instruments, art supplies).

4. Facilitate learning during camp hours.
5. Responsible for the supervision of students during drop off, pick up, and lunch.

6. Establish a rapport and communicate with students and help organize their efforts in support of their learning during Camp

Staff Absence Policy:?

Staff are expected to be present for their entire work schedule during the duration of the Arts Summer Camp.

Sick Leave will be awarded to PFT represented employees based on Article 144, Section 6a2 and 6b of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teacher's (PFT) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Any additional absences during the work schedule will be docked from the staff's pay. If any staff is absent more than 2 days, the staff may be removed from their position and will only be paid for the days worked.
