Pittsburgh Mount Oliver Intermediate Unit 2 is Hiring a Non-Public School Counselor Near Pittsburgh, PA

Title: Nonpublic School Counselor

Reports to: Supervisor of Nonpublic Programs

Job Summary: Provide individual and group counseling services, as well as provide ongoing consultation to school personnel to support nonpublic students.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Consult and collaborate with teachers toward supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
  • Recommend behavioral interventions to teachers and staff towards supporting the academic and social/emotional success of students.
  • Provide social and emotional support to students via individual meetings, check-ins, and class meetings.
  • Recommend and refer outside services for students and families as needed.
  • Collaborate with outside professionals to foster consistent collaboration and student growth across settings.
  • Provide and recommend staff professional development as needed.
  • Incorporate SEL lessons and curriculum as appropriate.
  • Respond to community needs and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Nonpublic Programs

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Valid PA School Counselor, Guidance Counselor or Social Worker Certification/license
  • 2-5 years of experience working with diverse groups of students

Other qualifications:

  • Leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Education Suite
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Valid PA Drivers’ License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34,359.74 - $41,379.47 per year
