Pittsburg State University Career Site Minimal is Hiring an Assistant Instructional Professor of Automotive Technology Near Pittsburg, KS

The School of Automotive and Engineering Technology at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of Automotive Technology, a position which is renewable on an annual basis. Possible tenure-earning in future.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Teaching responsibilities will be in the Automotive Technology Program in the School of Automotive & Engineering Technology. A typical course load would require 4 courses (12 hours) per semester in the following ASE Certification areas depending on the faculty’s area of specialization: Electrical/Electronic Systems, Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicles, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Autonomous Vehicle Technology, Engine Repair, Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Manual Transmissions & Axle, Engine Performance, Heating & Air Conditioning, Light Vehicle Diesel Engines, and Advanced Engine Performance. Additional responsibilities may include ability and willingness to teach evening/night classes, mentor students, assisting in student recruitment, development of corporate partnerships, development of new courses and curriculum, and other duties as directed by the Automotive Technology Program Coordinator or Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications: 

Education:Bachelor of Sciencedegree in automotive or related technical program and progress towards a Master of Science in Automotive Technology or similar field. 

Experience: Minimum of three years of recent corporate or dealership experience in automotive service operations, or five years teaching experience in automotive technology. ASE certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master ASE certification with additional certification in areas of teaching; completion of master’s degree or doctorate in closely related field; experience in technology or teaching of automotive electrical, Hybrid/Electric vehicles, ADAS, engine performance, or autonomous vehicle technology courses described; and corporate automotive experience.
