POSITION: PCVA Virtual Teacher

REPORTS TO: Director of Digital Learning

Evaluated by: Principal at assigned school

NATURE OF WORK

The virtual teacher is responsible for providing all aspects of online learning for students. Using the district LMS, the VT will provide both live and on demand instruction, support, assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students. The VT will also support blended learning by providing digital content to F2F teachers and professional development.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Provide online instruction to students in all content areas to which the VT is assigned.
  Provide Curriculum Assistance to students with IEPs
  Provide home visits as needed to support both IEP goals and F2F curriculum support

• Helps teachers provide appropriate content for students with IEPs in the regular learning environment.

• Attends meetings and staff development functions as necessary to develop skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge and experience teaching in a virtual environment

• Strong knowledge and experience of Seesaw and/or Canvas. 

• Knowledge of any additional tools that support the virtual learning environment

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrates a strong connection between curriculum and technology integration

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

• Holds a current NC teaching License (or other state equivalent)

SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Regular Core Classroom Teaching experience in a K-12 School instructional setting 

• In depth knowledge and application of PCS Learning Management Systems (Canvas)
