Purpose: The Multi-Classroom (MCT) Teacher, having content and instructional expertise, will support two to three regular classroom teachers with the goal of developing their effectiveness. The MCT will co-plan and co-teach with these teachers on a regular, pre-determined schedule. MCTs will have a full class-load, though their class-load will be shared with each of the co-teachers.
 
Reports to: School Principal
 
Payment Rate: According to Certified Teacher Salary Schedule plus $10,000 annual supplement
 
Employment Term: 10 MonthQualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  2. Minimum of four years of successful prior teaching experience.
  3. Current North Carolina Teaching Continuing License.
  4. Desire to continue career improvement.
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
  6. Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines
  7. A minimum of 8 points on the MCT Qualification Checklist from at least two different categories, with at least 4 points in the category of Student Achievement

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Multiple certifications (listed in #1 in qualifications)
  2. Ten or more years teaching experience
  3. Completion of the Cognitive Coaching Foundations Training
  4. Successful experience mentoring and supporting other teachers
  5. Knowledge of best practices regarding co-teaching
Essential Functions:
  1. Co-teach with at least 3 other teachers on a regular basis, specifically:
    1. Regularly meet to co-plan the instruction, with a specific emphasis on developing the efficacy and skills of the co-teacher;
    2. Co-instruct students daily on a set schedule with all assigned Co-Teachers;
    3. Fulfill all duties of classroom teachers for assigned students (including teacher conferences, grades, providing feedback to students, etc.).
  2. Foster positive relationships with co-teachers, other educators, and administrators.
  3. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  4. Attend and participate in all required district-level trainings and support for Multi-Classroom Teachers.
General Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions.
  2. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
  3. Develop and maintain a collegial relationship with teachers and administrators.
  4. Maintain eligibility requirements for the position, including meeting student performance goals.
District Commitment to Facilitating Teachers
  1. Support from a dedicated district coach
  2. Regularly scheduled Training days focused on general leadership development, how to co-teach and co-plan with others, and how to mentor and develop another individual in a 1:1 setting
  3. Minimum of 3 individual coachings per year by a district-level coach focusing on personal leadership development and influence
  4. Regular collaboration with other Multi-Classroom Teachers across the district (both formal and informal)
  5. An online learning community designed to offer ongoing support, resources, and collaboration between Multi-Classroom Teachers
  6. Growth and evaluation measured on a rubric specific to Multi-Classroom Teachers in addition to the standard NCEES rubric
