Job Summary:
Reporting to a processing superintendent, a department supervisor is responsible for all aspects of their respective department.
Essential Functions:
1. Performs job specific tasks as directed by the superintendent
2. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with established policy, including production, quality, and safety.
3. Oversees all aspects of their department
4. Manage all personnel issues of employees assigned to their respective department.
5. Oversee all employee training, both on an individual basis as well as through department meetings.
6. Attends routine Production meetings.
7. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on general personnel issues.
8. Performs other such duties as may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to develop professional working relationship with staff.
2. Ability to create clear perspective for personnel of what is expected; skilled at achieving those objectives.
3. Ability to lift and properly move at least 80 lbs.
4. Ability to exercise good management judgment.
5. Ability to ensure employees work safely and provide a safe working environment.
6. Skilled in personnel issues; ability to manage all personnel situations, working in tandem with the Human Resources Department.
7. Ability to understand and interpret production reports.
8. Demonstrate consistency in management style; approachable, operating an "open door" policy for all personnel.
Qualifications:
1. Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting.
2. Military experience is helpful.
3. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach.
4. Considerable visual physical effort.
5. Previous supervisory experience helpful.
