Piramal is Hiring a Production Operator Near Bethlehem, PA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to operating procedures, principles, and instructions in a safe fashion. Familiarizes/Understands all relevant procedures through Computer-based Training and On-the-Job Training. 
  • Collaborates with multiple departments/personnel in troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and Lean objectives.
  • Ensures personal safety, quality, and productivity are aligned with the site values/goals.
  • Ability to understand automation controls and operational issues with a mechanical aptitude. 
  • Enters data (volume/measurements) from production processes into batch records; maintain accuracy of record-keeping and understanding of inventory.
  • Ability to submit/discuss work orders in coordination with the Maintenance Team
  • Strive for achievement in production goals and adhere to the goals within manufacturing. 
  • Supports ongoing improvement to ensure Audit-readiness at all times. Supports personnel/departments in maintaining cleanliness of the site. 
  • Cooperates with management and colleagues on site to provide a safe and healthy working environment - Reports all personal injuries, near misses, and incidents (however minor). 
  • Understands and performs work activities in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) (21 CFR 210 & 211) in all areas of business where the cGMPs apply.
  • Adjusts flow of chemicals/materials to reactors, distillation columns, filters, and molecular sieves - Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of chemicals.
  • Report active alarms, upset conditions, and abnormalities; takes appropriate action to alert Supervisor/Manager. 
  • Ability to understand and record meters/gauge readings or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify and control operating conditions.
  • Controls/Adjusts flow of highly hazardous chemicals in drums, totes, trucks, cylinders, or bulk tanks to enclosed process vessels 
  • Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls (when directed) to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.
  • Obtains samples and submit to Quality Control for analytical results per system specification.
  • Capability to adjust the pH of discharged water utilizing bulk neutralization automation. 
  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustments, or lubrication – Alerts maintenance of abnormalities. 
  • Capable of explaining upsets during normal operating conditions. 
  • Sweeps, mops, dusts, polishes, waxes, paints, etc. as needed in accordance with the housekeeping schedule, and documents all cleaning accordingly
  • Operates forklift and pallet jack in accordance with transporting raw materials, packaging components, and intermediate materials in IBCs. 
  • Assists other functional departments when needed including: Maintenance, Packaging, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality Control, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as requested by the Shift Supervisor.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to wear face mask respirator and required personal protection equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and balance. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
