Objective: Pipestone Business provides financial services to family farms of today becoming the farms of tomorrow. The Accounting Specialist will utilize the Pipestone accounting platform and processes to serve our customers producing crops and livestock.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of general ledger structure.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Process cash receipts and disbursements
• Maintain sales order and purchase order systems
• Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling asset and liability accounts
• Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and timely
• Understanding of financial reports and preparation of those reports
• Maintain depreciation and accrual schedules
• Prepare period close information for internal and external users
• Prepare financial statements using standard operating procedures
• Communicate effectively with agricultural producers
• Ability to work in and contribute to a professional team environment
• Ability to manage multiple customer files simultaneously
• Attention to detail

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

• Knowledge of pork production
• Knowledge of feed manufacturing
• Knowledge of commodity risk management and livestock marketing
• Ability to analyze data
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education: 2 or 4 year degree in accounting or agricultural business preferred, but not required.

Experience:

• Livestock and/or crop production preferred
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; Customer service experience preferred
