Job Description

Purpose: The Staff Accountant will work under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. The Staff Accountant will help ensure timely and accurate reporting of revenue and expenses as well as processing of company payroll. The position will have the opportunity to participate in our month-end close and will have the exposure to various areas of the accounting department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Post daily deposits, scan checks to bank, and manage collections.
  • Post and balance sales batches to our accounting system.
  • Review and adjust billing from other departments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, validate and post invoices, prepare weekly check runs.
  • Maintenance of vendor/merchant information, including W-9's & COI’s as needed and year-end 1099 issuance and reporting.
  • Employee expense report processing including bill review, coding, securing of approvals, and reimbursements.
  • Coordination, organization, and management of electronic vendor/employee expense files (bills, payment records, supporting documents)
  • Responsible for filing monthly sales/use tax return.
  • Full-cycle payroll processing for both weekly and biweekly employees
  • Responsible for transmitting Third Party Sick Pay data on quarterly basis.
  • Reconcile monthly wages to general ledger.
  • Perform various monthly reconciliations (prepaid, accruals, benefits)
  • Participate in the monthly closing process for assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time by the EVP/Controller/Senior Accountant
  • Ad Hoc Projects as needed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Must be skilled in the use of Advanced MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material.
  • Familiar with a variety of accounting and payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • 2 years’ progressive Accounting and Payroll experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP Accounting Software, concur expense and ADP, a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing.
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment.
  • Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information.
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and customers.
