Job Summary

Under the direction of the Brake Metal Shop Supervisor, the shop tech is required to have experience on producing brake metal parts. Should be able to operates, and performs maintenance on brake press and shearing machines; Uses a variety of bending, punching, drilling, shearing and notching machines and hand tools to cut and form metal pieces to required dimensions; Able to utilize pdf drawings to support proper setup of machine; Determines appropriate sequence of operations in a program and monitors for efficient production; Ensures quality and production requirements are met; Complies with all safety rules, regulations and standards as they apply to assigned areas.

• Works to prevent accidents and unsafe working conditions.

Problem Solving

• Demonstrates the ability to solve problems consistent with experience.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Able or willing to learn how to read & use measuring equipment.
• Willing to work overtime when necessary to meet production requirements.
• Break Metal Manufacturing Experience preferred.
• Experience in reading drawings and blueprints preferred.
• Able to listen and follow directions.
• Works well under the pressure.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and /or walk for the duration of the scheduled shift (at least 10 hours).
• Ability to periodically work overtime to support the cyclical nature of the business (may entail a shift longer than 10 hours).
• Ability to squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, reach, lift. Must be able to push and pull up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally and over 50 lbs. with a two-person lift.
• Exposure to noise and moderate but varying temperatures, humidity and other elements in warehouse environments.
