TITLE: Collections Specialist
LOCATION: Headquarters
REPORTS TO: Consumer Lending Servicing Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non Exempt
PAY GRADE: NE 35 ($21.00 - $32.60 per hour)
AVAILABILITY: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Position Summary:
Works with customers and other business units to assist in recovering funds owed to Pioneer, reducing losses to both the Bank and its customers. This includes Delinquent Loans/Mortgages, Returned Checks, Negative Balance Accounts, etc. The Loss Mitigation Specialist also interacts with outside counsel and other third parties to coordinate repayment efforts for foreclosures, bankruptcies and other monies owed to Pioneer.
Essential Job Functions:
Reviews, monitors and services delinquent loans - consumer loans, home equity loans, 1-4 family residential mortgage loans, overdraft accounts, and negative balance accounts/returned checks.
Completes all activities for accounts in the collection queues for necessary/required follow-up.
Prepares monthly departmental reports, including General Ledger Accounts, Charged Off Accounts, Negative Balances, Returned Checks, etc.
Handles customer inquiries by phone and letter to assist in delinquent payments, confession of judgement repayment, loan extensions, etc. This includes inbound and outbound calling.
Prepares and processes accounts recommended for charge off when necessary.
Report adverse activity to credit reporting agencies.
Works with legal counsel on charged off, bankrupt and foreclosure accounts.
Handles the assignment of collateral for repossession when necessary.
Collaborates with other lines of business to resolve issues related to a customer account and reduce financial loss.
Coordinate inspections of property when necessary.
Reviews potential workout options and makes recommendations to management.
Education & Experience:
Associate Degree in Business or related field required.
Two years' experience in collections or customer service required.
Must have working knowledge of computer operating systems and various software (MS Office, Excel, Windows, etc.).
Must be able to work flexible schedule; evenings and/or Saturdays may be necessary from time to time.
