Pinnacle Technical Resources is Hiring a Material Planner Near Providence, RI

Position: Material Planner
Location: Providence Rhode Island 02907 (Hybrid: 3 days a week in the office)
Duration: 12 Months Contract

Job Summary:
  • This position coordinates and expedites the material requirements needed to support client's electric and gas operations.
  • It is responsible for monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the material requirements process and for developing business process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of supplying materials to client's field work forces and business lines.
  • The Material Planner directs the demand for materials by evaluating requisitions (REQ’s or RSS) for COM (customer owned material) ensuring the right material is delivered to the right location according to the work management schedule and delivery processes with the contracted third party logistics provider, Power Line Supply (PLS).
  • This position works independently with minimal supervision.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Duties include reviewing material requests that flow from client’s work management process. Ensures that REQ’s/client’s comply with the various supply chain strategies for the material demand they represent.
  • Identifies and resolves material holds and bottlenecks to ensure that work management schedules are not impacted.
  • Recommends alternative materials and strategies for meeting the MR need dates for customer owned material.
  • Works with the business lines to gather forecast information.
  • Identifies and develops plans for forecasting material demand and seasonal usage trends.
  • Suggests the levels and location of inventory to ensure the optimal supply chain for meeting the needs of client's field work forces to the PLS warehouse manager and the Inventory Manager
  • Coordinates with the client area resource coordinator and Material Handlers to verify all work orders material has been requisitioned.
  • Communicates and coordinates material demand and material sources between PLS and Work management.
  • Create orders (based on capacity/slot planning, min/ max and demand)
  • Negotiate with suppliers to expedite client's deliveries based on need by dates in project schedules.
  • Evaluate alternate sources of supply in conjunction with the Standards Engineers and make recommendations to the Category Managers or buyers if the original supplier cannot meet the specified need by date.
  • Coordinates material delivery with the PLS Logistics team when necessary.
  • Contact suppliers for shipping information and expediting of material.
  • Maintains transformer priority list based on input from the field.
  • Provide reporting to internal customers and contractors.
  • Establish/maintain professional relationships with suppliers, based on the highest ethical business practices as set forth in the Standards of Conduct and Integrity and Client's Supply Chain Policies.
  • Utilizes company developed or sponsored reporting tools, spreadsheets, shared data sites and business information processes to gather and report material planning information with the business proponents, relevant stakeholders and Supply Chain leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related fields.
  • Two to four years of experience in materials requirements planning, procurement, manufacturing, scheduling and/or related disciplines.
  • Experience using ERP, procurement, or work management systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Experience with using EXCEL, including the ability to create v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.

Pay Range: $30 - $35 Hourly
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
