Job Summary:

• Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of the Center.
• Has knowledge of sterilization equipment within department.
• Collects and decontaminates instruments according to the manufacturer's instructions.
• Organizes and wraps instruments for use during surgical procedures.
• Conducts appropriate sterilization cycles in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
• Documents and maintains records for all sterilization processes.
• Maintains accurate tracking/documentation for all instrumentation received and distributed.
• Provides appropriate communication to OR staff when instruments are removed from service.
• Reorders necessary supplies for department and checks expiration dates monthly.
• Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices.
• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
• One year experience required
• BLS through AHA required within 60 days of hire.
