Position Summary
The Nursing Director is responsible for overseeing entire medical operation for all sites, including but not limited to directing care for residents, facilitating workflows, serving as a resource for staff, and providing team leadership in an addiction recovery environment. The Nursing Director maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with the facilities policies and procedures, and their professional license, DHCS regulations and Joint Commission Standards.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Core Competencies
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Responsible for ensuring that the Medication Room of all locations is in full compliance with all facility or clinic policies, Federal and State Laws and Regulations at all times.
● Supervises daily nursing / medical operations for staff, makes staff assignments and creates schedules, updates schedules for providers and support staff when changes are made.
● Supervises and evaluates work activities of nursing and BHT staff (medication related) for the work group, and other clinic staff, as directed.
● Responsible for ensuring that medical records for residents are in compliance with facility or clinic policies, Federal and State Laws and Regulations at all times, will review medical records to ensure compliance.
● Oversees quality assurance activities and compliance to operational standards, participates in program development, development or implementation of operating policy and procedure, and promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices, as requested.
● Assists with the recruitment, hiring and training of new staff; and,
● Facilitates team interaction for discharge planning.
● Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon a therapeutic milieu.
● Shares pertinent information with the team as obtained from residents or family throughout the program.
● Collaborates with the medical staff to provide medical and nursing care.
● Attends weekly leadership staff and Performance Improvement meetings.
● As needed, performs clinical nursing activities in a safe, professional manner.
● Maintains compliance with established nursing care standards.
● Supervises and instructs residents in medication self-administration, including the preparation and giving of injections as ordered by the doctor.
● Obtains lab specimens as ordered by the doctor.
● Assists residents in obtaining medication from pharmacies.
● Provides health education groups, if necessary.
● Continues with educational courses and in-service training, per policies and procedures.
● Updates knowledge of community resources on a continuous basis.
● Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress.
● Responds positively to changing situations in the workplace.
● Ability to work as a team player.
● Demonstrates good communication skills.
● Performs in a professional manner and role-model a positive image of mental health.
● Obtains physician orders for admission upon residents arrival.
● Reports abuse of residents rights immediately.
● Participates in obtaining the residents informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as appropriate.
● Demonstrates knowledge of medication actions, side effects, and contraindications.
● Provides groups as scheduled.
● Documents groups on the appropriate form, in a legible, accurate, clear and concise manner.
● Performs other tasks, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

● Minimum one year supervisory responsibility
● Must be able to submit a Staff Health Questionnaire (DHCS 5105 - Outpatient Facilities) upon hire, or a Health Screening Report (DHCS 5077 - Residential Facilities)
● Must have a negative Tuberculosis test result
● Background Check and Pre Employment Drug Screen
● Two years of experience as a Nurse or in a health-related field preferred.
● Knowledge of basic principles, practices and techniques of mental health and drug and alcohol intervention.
● Knowledge of medications effects, indications, and contraindications.
● Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Licenses/Certifications
● High School Diploma (Required)
● Current RN or LVN license in State of operations (Required)
● CPR and First Aid Certified (Required)

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
