Job Requirements:

  • FL RN License
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications
  • Minimum Two (2) years' experience in an acute care setting

About the Job:

  • Under the direction of the Director, supervises and coordinates the work activities of the professional and technical staff
  • Organizes and coordinates the activities of the department through the appropriate assignment of responsibilities, delegation of authority, and overall direction of workflow processes. Provides direction and motivation to assigned personnel
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities of the department personnel; provides management coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training and retraining, as necessary, to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Initiates progressive disciplinary action as needed
  • Monitors and evaluates systems and processes. Initiates changes and improvements, as necessary, to ensure operational efficiency. Evaluates outcome of changes and expected improvements
  • Monitors the quality of patient care to ensure the safety of the patient is maintained during all procedures and safety standards are adhered to
  • Ensures quality assurance standards are followed. Ensures quality control tests are performed as required. Ensures department compliance to the Joint Commission and/or all applicable governmental agencies
  • Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Reports equipment problems to department manager or service personnel as required
  • Communicates with administration, medical staff, employees, and other departments to coordinate efforts, meet special needs, and address problems or concerns. Attends department meetings
  • Establishes quality improvement, fiscal productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives in conjunction with upper management
  • If functioning with telemetry patients, demonstrates technical competency in gathering and communicating objective data such as EKG interpretation, advanced assessment and medication administration
  • Conducts nurse leader rounds daily and physician rounds as needed
  • Assures assignments are appropriate to patient acuity and skill level of nursing personnel
  • Acts as a clinical resource person to staff to complete tasks assigned timely
  • Functions as a direct care giver with patient assignment as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to function as a department director in their absence
  • Demonstrates ability to function as a house supervisor as needed
