What Will You Do?

As a Lead Clinical Social Worker at Pine Rest, you’llbe part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertiseand compassion. The Lead Clinical Social Worker functionsas a clinical leader and supervisor within a designated unit(s). In addition, they assume responsibility andaccountability for a group of patients/clients and directs care to thesepatients/clients via the development of the treatment approach includingspecific discipline interventions. Theywill ensure that appropriate level of care is determined and confer with thefamily referral source and the insurance company as to the status of thepatient throughout treatment.

Our services include a state-of-the-artpsychiatric urgent care center and a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioralhealth center, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (day programs),assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment and specialty servicessuch as crisis response, employee assistance programs, forensic psychiatry andpsychology, and neuromodulation. Our on-the-job educational programs fornurses, psychologists, advanced practice providers, psychiatrists and chaplainsare equipping the next generation of care providers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and prioritizes patient/clienttreatment needs including discharge needs.
  • Implements plan of care and collaborateswith the clinical team to assure a uniform plan of care.
  • Provides individual, group, and familytherapy or interventions; psychosocial assessment, including assessment ofco-occurring disorders.
  • Provides input to the interdisciplinarytreatment plan, functioning as a team member.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationship withassigned patients/clients including engaging, deescalating, screening, andmanaging crises.
  • Serves as a liaison between communityresources, family, patient/client, and hospital- or clinic-based providers ofcare.
  • Assures appropriate length of stay based oncontinual reassessment of patient’s/client’s progress towards goals.
  • Responsible to monitor for and report tothe manager, attending physician, or appropriate team leader any potential riskto patient safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
  • Responsible to document and report allnecessary information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes processes to conserve financialresources.
  • Createsa customer/client friendly environment by following quality improvementstandards, maintaining professionalism, initiating and maintaining positiverelationships with departments, co-workers and external customers.
  • Collaborates with manager regardinginternship needs and other departmental activities.
  • Worksin various clinical settings with diverse patient/client populations withcomplex needs.
  • Promotes positive communication betweenstaff members.
  • Acts as lead in establishing performanceimprovement activities and serving on committees as needed. Assists manager indepartment performance appraisals by collecting and/or completing concurrentinput forms and when appropriate writing the appraisals.
  • Takes an active role in the training needsof staff in orientation, competency assessment and in identifying ongoing trainingneeds of staff.
  • Responsible to role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image that is projected in appearance, attitudes and behaviors, time management and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical support to patients.
  • Commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care.
  • Responsible to uphold the healing ministry of Christ through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity and professional excellence.
  • May supervise Clinical Social Workers.
  • Plays a leadership role in programdevelopment.
  • Functions as a clinical leader,delegating/coordinating clinical social worker staff assignments within units,problem solving and promoting staff development.
  • Collaborates in follow up with disciplinaryaction.

What Does the Role Require:

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree required in social work orpsychology.
  • For Substance Abuse programs: A Master’sdegree required in behavioral health sciences and two years post graduate workin substance use disorder treatment. Additional experience of two years postgraduate mental health work preferred.
  • Must hold current licensure (Master’sPrepared only) in the field of social work, psychology or nursing.
  • Three years mental health experience, to beable to independently assess patient’s needs and to implement and evaluateeffective plans of care and acquire and effectively utilize knowledge ofpolicies and procedures.
