Position: Health EducatorLocation: Position may be eligible for remote workUnion: AFSCME H&HS Unit FLSA Status: Full-time, non-exempt (37.5 hrs/week)

OVERVIEW:

As a Public Health Preparedness Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our communities by implementing strategic planning and efficient emergency response measures.

Your responsibilities will include assessing potential health risks, developing and maintaining emergency preparedness plans, and coordinating resources to ensure a prompt and effective response during crises. Collaborating with various stakeholders, including public health agencies, local authorities, and community organizations, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of public health preparedness programs.

Your keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively will be crucial in addressing emerging health challenges.

In addition to preparedness, our focus extends to effective recovery strategies, emphasizing resilience and prompt restoration of community well-being in the aftermath of emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develops strategic partnerships and conducts meetings to engage citizens in the promotion of health education programs in the community;
  • participates in health education at community events.
  • Coordinates and prepares grants, manages grant funds, and prepares reports.
  • Prepares educational materials for schools, community groups and other related organizations.
  • Monitors and documents community health status and trends.
  • Develops and implements quality improvement and assurance activities for assigned programs; reports results and recommends process improvement strategies.
  • Coordinates data activities including demographic, programmatic, socioeconomic, health and other information.
