Responsibilities: CNA will provide direct patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, and/or groom patients, change linens and perform accuchecks. May assist with transferring or transporting of patients from bed to chair, wheelchair or stretcher. Documents patient care into computer system. Enters physician orders if required. Patient care assignments may include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Will be cross-trained to function in the ER setting where duties will include: assisting with patient care, ward clerk clerical duties, performing EKGs and accu-checks, etc. Ward Clerk will coordinate the various activities on the unit, i.e., greeting and directing visitors, families, physicians, staff members, etc. Responsibilities include assisting with new admissions and discharges/transfers; insuring information in patient charts is accurate and up-to-date. Assists nursing staff with various non-clinical duties, such as ordering of supplies and equipment for the unit.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Successful completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program
Certification: Current Illinois Certified Nurses Aide Certificate and CPR certification (or completion of class within 6 months of hire)
Prior Experience: Experience preferred, but will also train on the job
Proficiencies: Basic computer skills required
Skills and Abilities: Good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology; attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge Of: Nurse aide job tasks
Other: Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing or pulling.
