Description
Position: Student Services Coordinator
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in job related area. Three years' experience with specialized expertise in the instruction of students with special learning needs. Master's degree preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with building principals, special and regular education teachers, outside agencies, etc. for the purpose of identifying student issues, resolving issues, receiving / conveying information and/or developing individualized methods of instruction.
  • Consults with building administrators, teachers, and parents for the purpose of conveying information, providing curriculum support and/or assisting in the development of specialized accommodations.
  • Coordinates and adapts special education services and programs as assigned (e.g. IEPs, student observations, 504 plans, implementation of assistive technology, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines while meeting the individual needs of each student.
  • Establishes support systems for special education teachers and educational support staff for the purpose of providing assistance and direction in achieving student success while complying with District, state and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates special education programs and services for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives and adapting program components to meet student needs within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains a variety of records (confidential and non-confidential) and files for the purpose of ensuring documentation for future reference in accordance with administrative and legal requirements.
  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. assessment reports, IEPs, correspondence, internal program audits, correspondence, curriculum materials and aides, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Participate in network-level research and planning for future ELL-related school-based programs.
  • Research and support the implementation of best practices to accelerate the language acquisition of newcomer English language learners.
  • Plan for and coordinate appropriate English Language Development (ELD) programming.
  • Analyze data on a regular basis to evaluate the efficacy of ELL programming and supports.
  • Identify additional professional development needs and design targeted learning opportunities for schools based on need.
  • Identify and share resources with school leadership to bolster ELL support at each school.
  • Other ELL-related responsibilities.
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other content area teachers of record.
  • Adhere to ADE, Special Education, and ELL Deadlines
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

  • Must be able to use the following equipment: personal computer, including spreadsheet, word processing; telephone; switchboard; calculator; and copy machine.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including some evenings, and weekends.
  • Currently hold AZ Special Education Teachers Certificate
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license and become insurable
  • Must obtain an IVP Fingerprint clearance card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must, on a daily basis, lift and/or move up to 20 pounds several times a day. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
