Pima Community College is Hiring a Community Service Officer Near Tucson, AZ

The Community Service Officer assists campus police in providing non-commission level safety and security duties for college facilities, staff, students, and the general public by providing public service and crime prevention work.

The work schedule for this position will include a minimum of 40 hours and can include working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists commissioned Police Officers with police procedures by patrolling College properties and reporting suspicious or unsafe behaviors
  • Provides a roving patrol on foot or College vehicle, covering specific Pima Community College facilities across the College District
  • Assists with the enforcement of College regulations, such as parking, to include writing citations
  • Performs security and safety checks of College grounds; locks and unlocks College facilities to ensure security of College property
  • Processes lost and found property following college guidelines
  • Conducts proactive public relations with students, the public, and employees.
  • Provides public assistance such as general information, elevator restarts, and vehicle jump starts.
  • Fingerprints students when needed for programs that require it.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High school graduate or General Education Diploma (GED) and
  • The ability to obtain Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Level A Certification and
  • Current Arizona Driver License and
  • Minimum 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States

Preferred Requirements:

  • One to three years of related law enforcement experience

Additional Information:

  • Ability to operate relevant equipment required to complete assigned responsibilities for the position

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, dust, chemicals, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
