Pike County Memorial Hospital is Hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician (Days) Near Louisiana, MO

As a Medical Lab Technician, you will accurately analyze and report all laboratory tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely and efficient manner to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and with effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers. Displays conduct in support of PCMH's Mission & Values.
**Requires working every 4th Weekend!

Responsibilities:
1. Instructs patients in preparing for tests that require fasting. Answers patient questions regarding the tests.
2. Maintains equipment and investigates problems with equipment.
3. May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and training new employees.
4. May monitor daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
5. May participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
6. Performs a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment. Prepares specimens, resolves specimen problems, and performs analytical tests. Labels and stores specimens.
7. Prepares reagents and assists in the preparation of standard and control materials. Monitors levels of reagents and assists in maintaining supplies.
8. Records results of tests and maintains records. Provides test results, reporting deviations from the norm to supervisor or ordering physician.

Education Required:

Associate’s Degree in a Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Chemical, Physical, Biological Science
Licensure/Certification Required:
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through a nationally recognized accredited agency (ASCP or AMT)
