PIH Health Whittier Hospital is Hiring a Supervisor, Pre-Analytic Lab, Full Time, Days Near Whittier, CA

Reports to the laboratory manager and responsible for the supervision of inpatient phlebotomy services, specimen accessioning and performance of clinical laboratory instrument testing. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, staff scheduling, coaching, counseling, training, competency development and assessment; Human Resource employee relation issues; department budgets; policy and regulatory compliance; and Quality Assurance/Improvement. This is a supervisory position.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent
  • A California Phlebotomy Certificate (CPT) that meets the mandates of the laws and regulations of the State of California is required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (CLIA, DHS, CAP, Joint Commission)
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in specimen accessioning, processing, and collection, including familiarity with laboratory information systems. Experience in running and troubleshooting clinical laboratory instruments preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of previous supervisory experience preferred.
