Security Director Duties:
1. Maintaining High Visibility: Unarmed security guards maintain a visible presence to deter illegal or inappropriate actions. They patrol the mall premises, including buildings, facilities, and perimeters.
2. Access Control: They perform access control procedures on vehicles, personnel, and visitors. This involves checking identification, ensuring authorized entry, and preventing unauthorized access.
3. Informing Personnel and Visitors: Unarmed security guards inform personnel and visitors about security procedures and act upon noncompliance. They play a crucial role in maintaining order and safety.
4. Monitoring Alarm Systems and Surveillance: Guards monitor alarm systems and video surveillance cameras. If any suspicious activity or disturbance is detected, they take appropriate action.
5. Investigating Incidents: When incidents occur, such as disturbances or security breaches, unarmed security guards investigate promptly. They document observations and surveillance activities.
6. Reporting Security Breaches: If a security breach occurs, they immediately report it to designated law enforcement agents.
7. Performing Maintenance Checks: Guards ensure that security systems and equipment are functioning properly by performing regular maintenance checks.
8. Adhering to Regulations: Unarmed security guards must follow security industry regulations and guidelines.
9. Excellent Communication Skills: They need to communicate effectively with personnel, upper management, visitors, and law enforcement agents.
Security Director Requirements:
1. Education: High school diploma or GED.
2. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
3. Knowledge and Skills:
○ Deterring illegal activity and performing access control.
○ Familiarity with security systems and surveillance equipment.
○ Understanding of security industry regulations.
○ Ability to document security procedures and observations.
○ Advanced ability to respond to security breaches and threats.
